Utah State Aggies -3 O/U: 144.5
The Fresno State Bulldogs and the Utah State Aggies will meet up on the college basketball circuit in the Mountain West Tournament Friday.
Fresno State enters this game at 23-8 overall. The Bulldogs last fell to Nevada on February 23, and since have gone 4-0 including a Thursday opening-round tournament win over Air Force to move on.
In the first-round win over the Falcons, Fresno State’s top scorer was Deshon Taylor, doubling up on 18 points and 10 assists with five boards. Aguir Agau posted 16 points and three rebounds for the Bulldogs there as well.
Over on the Utah State side, they’re sitting at 26-6 overall this year. The Aggies won seven straight coming into the conference tournament, and took out New Mexico 91-83 Thursday to advance.
In the win over the Lobos, Utah State’s Sam Merrill put up 23 points with nine assists and four rebounds to lead the team. Justin Bean added a double-double for the Aggies in that one with 14 points and 15 rebounds.
The Bulldogs are 4-1 ATS in their last five overall and 5-2 ATS in their last seven Friday games. Fresno is 36-16 ATS in their last 52 after an ATS win and 4-1 ATS in their last five after a straight-up win.
Meanwhile, the Aggies are 13-3 ATS in their last 16 Friday games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven overall. Utah State is 2-5 ATS in their last seven after an ATS loss and 1-4 ATS in their last five neutral-site games.
Utah State was operating on all cylinders Thursday, but the defensive lapse cost them what should have been a dominant victory and a runaway clip in the first round of the tournament.
The Aggies have been pouring in the points over their win streak, but all too often they allow the other team to keep pace. Fresno State has the firepower to overcome that.
I’m going to pick against the Aggies covering here and roll on Fresno.
