The Wyoming Cowboys will travel to the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum to take on the Utah State Aggies this Wednesday night in College Basketball action.

The Wyoming Cowboys snapped their 3-game losing streak and improved to 6-17 (2-8 MW) on the season after defeating the Colorado State Rams, 74-66, this past Saturday. Wyoming was outstanding on the offensive end against the Rams and was able to hold on to the much-needed victory in the 2nd half after taking a 37-22 halftime lead. Wyoming shot 47.9% from the field and 54.2% from beyond the arc in the victory. Leading the way for the Cowboys was Justin James who had 36 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists, 1 block, and 2 steals.

On the season, Wyoming is averaging 66.3 ppg on 42.0% shooting from the field. The Cowboys are averaging 7.6 three-pointers per game on 35.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Wyoming has been led by Justin James (20.7 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 4.5 apg, 1.6 spg), Jake Hendricks (11.7 ppg, 2.8 rpg), Hunter Thompson (10.9 ppg, 3.3 rpg), and Trace Young (8.4 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 1.0 apg).

Defensively, Wyoming is allowing their opponents to average 74.9 ppg on 44.9% shooting from the field. The Cowboys have a rebound margin of -6.4 and a turnover margin of -2.1.

The Utah State Aggies had their 7-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 18-6 (8-3 MW) on the season after being defeated by the San Diego State Aztecs, 68-63, this past Saturday. Utah State trailed by a 33-29 margin at halftime and couldn’t fight back after San Diego State took a 63-55 lead with 3:20 left in regulation. Utah State shot just 39.2% from the field and lost the turnover battle by a 12-8 margin in the loss. Leading the way for the Aggies was Sam Merrill who had 35 points and a rebound.

On the season, Utah State is averaging 79.1 ppg on 47.7% shooting from the field. The Aggies are averaging 8.0 three-pointers per game on 35.9% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Utah State has been led by Sam Merrill (20.1 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 4.3 apg, 1.2 spg), Neemias Queta (10.9 ppg, 9.2 rpg, 1.5 apg, 2.6 bpg), Brock Miller (9.0 ppg, 1.7 rpg, 1.3 apg), and Quinn Taylor (8.3 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 2.5 apg).

Defensively, Utah State is holding their opponents to an average of 66.6 ppg on 38.7% shooting from the field. The Aggies have a rebound margin of 9.2 and a turnover margin of -0.2.

The Cowboys are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall, however, are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 road games. The Aggies are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 home games vs. a team with a losing road record and 40-15 ATS in their last 55 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400.

Wyoming has lost 8 of their last 10 games and currently rank 320th in scoring offense, 287th in FG%, and 258th in scoring defense.

Utah State has won 8 of their last 10 games and has been solid on both ends of the court this season as the Aggies rank 47th in scoring offense, 56th in scoring defense, and 11th in defensive FG%.

This is a huge number for the Aggies to cover, however, Utah State should be able to dominate the Cowboys on both ends of the court in this one and as the Aggies won by a 71-55 margin on the road earlier this season, I think they’ll be able to do enough to cover this large spread at home. Good Luck!
