The North Texas Mean Green and the UTEP Miners meet in C-USA conference college basketball action from the Don Haskins Center on Wednesday night.

The North Texas Mean Green will look to build on their current 7-game winning streak after a 65-62 win over Southern Miss in their last outing. Jorden Duffy and Roosevelt Smart tied for the team-high with 11 points apiece while Michael Miller and Umoja Gibson each added 10 points to round out the foursome of double-digit scorers for North Texas in the win. Miller added a team-high 8 rebounds while Gibson added 6 rebounds and a pair of steals. Zachary Simmons added 8 points and 7 rebounds while Ryan Woolridge chipped in 9 points and a team-high 5 assists as well in the victory. Woolridge leads North Texas with an average of 12.7 points and 5.2 assists per game while Simmons leads the Mean Green on the glass with 6.9 rebounds per game this season. As a team, North Texas is averaging 76.8 points per game on 48.4% shooting from the field, 38.4% from behind the arc and 68.9% from the foul line this season.

The UTEP Miners will look to rebound from back-to-back losses after a 67-63 loss to UTSA in their last outing. Evan Gilyard led the Miners with 18 points on 6 of 11 shooting with 4 threes while Paul Thomas and Kobe Magee each had 10 points to finish off the trio of double-digit scorers for UTEP in the loss, with Thomas adding 3 threes while Magee shot 4 of 8 with a pair of threes. Nigel Hawkins added 9 points and 9 rebounds with a team-high 4 assists while Efe Odigie added 8 points and a game-high 16 rebounds as well in the losing effort. Gilyard leads the Miners in scoring with 18 points per game while Magee leads the Miners in assists with 2.2 assists per game and Odigie leads UTEP in rebounding by averaging a double-double per game with 15.2 points and a team-leading 10.2 rebounds per game this season. As a team, UTEP is averaging 67.8 points per game on 43.3% shooting from the field, 33.9% from behind the 3-point line and 63.7% from the foul line this season.

North Texas is 16-5 ATS in their last 21 road games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall while the under is 6-1-2 in their last 9 conference games. UTEP is 6-2 ATS in their last 8 home games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 conference games while the under is 7-0 in their last 7 games following a loss. North Texas is 1-6 ATS in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.

UTEP has been a thorn in the side of North Texas for quite some time now, and the last 3 meetings have been decided by 6 points or less. However, this is the best team North Texas has had over that span and have been very good on the road dating back to last season. The Mean Green have had some close calls as of late, but they’ve still looked pretty good over that span so with that said, I’ll lay the points with the better team here and even on the road, that’s North Texas.

Pick:
North Texas -6
