College basketball comes to the UTSA Roadrunners when the Texas State Bobcats come to town.
The Texas State Bobcats haven’t looked too bad in fashioning a 2-2 record but there are some good teams in the Sun Belt and sooner or later they’ll need to separate from the pack. The Bobcats are coming off a 73-69 loss to Texas A&M CC that was close throughout despite owning a 44%-38% shooting advantage and seven more threes but the Islanders won it with 13 more free throws. Texas State received 20 points and nine rebounds on 7-15 from Kevin Gilder-Tilbury with Bobby Conley netting 19 points on 6-9 before fouling out in 27 minutes. The Bobcats receives some production from many sources but not a lot.
The UTSA Roadrunners need to regroup from an early season funk where they have struggled in various areas. The Roadrunners come off of a 78-58 defeat at Lamar where neither end of the floor performed well. Texas-San Antonio fell behind by eleven after 20 minutes and the second half was no better. The Cardinals connected at 43.5% and sank nine more threes while the Roadrunners 38% accuracy resulted in five fewer baskets so the final score is easily explained. Jeff Beverly was the Roadrunners best offensive option with 17 points on 7-13 from the field with Nick Allen adding eleven points and 13 rebounds while Giovanni De Nicolao chipped in with nine points and eight assists.
Texas State are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games overall and Texas State are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 road games while the over is 7-3 in Texas State last 10 non-conference games. UTSA are 8-20 ATS in their last 28 home games and the over is 10-4 in UTSA last 14 non-conference games.
If the numbers are correct and both teams continue to play as they have then the signs point to Texas State…
