The Line: Valparaiso Crusaders +1 -- Over/Under: 148.5
The Ball State Cardinals and the Valparaiso Crusaders will meet up in college basketball action on Monday.
Ball State enters this game at 6-4 on the season. The Cardinals’ losses have come courtesy of Purdue 84-75, Virginia Tech 73-64, Alabama 79-61 and Evansville 89-77.
In the Aces game, Ball State’s Tahjal Teague led the scoring on 17 points with eight rebounds, while Tayler Persons put up 16 and Trey Moses had 15 points to chip in. Both Persons and Moses had six rebounds for the Cards.
Over on the Valparaiso side, they’re 6-4 this year. The Crusaders have thus far taken out Concordia-Chicago, Monmouth, SIUE, UNLV, UC Riverside and George Washington.
In the Colonials game, Valpo’s Bakari Evelyn led the way with 27 points, four assists and two rebounds. Derrick Smits nearly had a double-double for the Crusaders on 11 points and nine rebounds there.
The Cardinals are 1-5 ATS in the last six games following an ATS loss and 1-9 ATS in the last 10 following a straight-up loss. The over is 6-0 in Ball State’s last six overall and 5-0 in their last five road games.
Meanwhile, the Crusaders are 4-1 ATS in their last five Monday games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven non-conference games. Valparaiso is also 2-5 ATS in their last seven overall and 0-5 ATS in their last five home games.
Ball State went through a nice run where they were looking pretty solid on both sides of the ball, but really lost their way versus Evansville their last time up.
As for Valpo, they seem to win a lot of games with high final scores and aren’t too good in defensive battles—which shouldn’t be an issue here.
This should be an interesting matchup; I like the over, and also Valparaiso on the cover.
