Missouri Valley college basketball action pits the Illinois State Redbirds at the Valparaiso Crusaders on Tuesday.
The Illinois State Redbirds have been in a bit of a funk with losses in four of five after a 77-56 defeat at Central Florida as a 13 point underdog.
Illinois State fell behind 43-18 at the intermission and never threatened with 35.8% shooting and 16 turnovers falling far short of the Knights 50.8% accuracy.
Keyshawn Evans and Phil Fayne were the Redbirds only double digit scorers with ten points apiece on 7-15 with Fayne totaling six rebounds.
Zach Copeland gave Illinois State eight points, three yanks and three assists along with a team high five turnovers while Matt Hein chipped in with seven points.
The Valparaiso Crusaders enter conference play off of a 97-61 rout sub-division Purdue-North Central. Valparaiso jumped to a 19 point lead at the intermission and were never challenged with a 56.2%-34.9% shooting advantage.
Ryan Fazekas topped the Crusaders offensive explosion with 19 points and five pulls with Markus Golder adding 18 points and six boards.
Valpo receive 15 points, seven rebounds and four helpers from Javon Freeman followed by Jaume Sorolla and Derrik Smits with a combined 21 points with Sorolla hauling in nine rebounds.
