The Arkansas Razorbacks and the Vanderbilt Commodores meet in SEC college basketball action from the Memorial Gym on Wednesday night.

The Arkansas Razorbacks will look to build some steam after a 74-73 win over Ole Miss that snapped a 6-game losing streak. Mason Jones led the Razorbacks with 22 points on 7 of 10 shooting with 6 threes while Daniel Gafford added 17 points on 7 of 9 shooting with a pair of blocks. Jalen Harris chipped in 10 points with 9 assists to round out the trio of double-digit scorers for the Hogs in the winning effort. Gafford leads Arkansas with an average of 16.4 points and 8.7 rebounds per game while Harris leads the Razorbacks in assists with 5.4 assists per game this season. As a team, Arkansas is averaging 75.8 points per game on 44.6% shooting from the field, 33.4% from behind the 3-point line and 65.9% from the foul line this season.

The Vanderbilt Commodores will be out to snap a 17-game losing streak after a 64-57 loss to Texas A&M in their last outing. Yanni Wetzell led the Commodores with 15 points while Simisola Shittu chipped in 11 points on 5 of 7 shooting with 10 rebounds for the double-double. Saben Lee chipped in 10 points with a team-high 5 assists to round out the trio of double-digit scorers for Vandy in the losing effort while Joe Toye had 4 assists and 3 steals. Lee leads Vanderbilt with an average of 12.7 points and 4 assists per game while Shittu leads the Commodores in rebounding with 6.9 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Vanderbilt is averaging 69.7 points per game on 42.7% shooting from the field, 31.8% from behind the 3-point line and 67.9% from the foul line this season.

Arkansas is 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games overall and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 conference games. Vanderbilt is 9-24 ATS in their last 33 home games and 19-41 ATS in their last 60 games overall while the under is 8-0 in their last 8 conference games. Arkansas is 6-2 ATS in the last 8 meetings between these two teams.

I have tried and tried to put faith in Vanderbilt in the hopes that it will pay off at some point and all it’s done for the most part is burn me as of late. However, Arkansas hasn’t been playing that much better lately, covering just once in their last 8 games and the Razorbacks have had a tendency to play down to their opposition as of late. This will be Vandy’s last home game of the season, and probably their last chance for a win as LSU waits on deck for the Commodores with an SEC title likely on the line. I think Vanderbilt comes out and sends their fans home happy here, so I’ll take one last shot with Vanderbilt and the free bucket at home here.
