The Kentucky Wildcats and the Vanderbilt Commodores will meet up on the college basketball circuit Tuesday.
The Wildcats enter this matchup at 16-3 on the season so far. Kentucky is currently sitting on a six-game win streak, taking out Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, Georgia, Auburn, MS State and Kansas in that time.
In the win over the Jayhawks, Kentucky’s PJ Washington led the way on 20 points and 13 rebounds. Reid Travis (18 points; 12 rebounds) and Keldon Johnson (15 points; 10 rebounds) also doubled up for the Wildcats in that game.
Over on the Vanderbilt side, they’re 9-10 this season. The Commodores have lost their last seven games, dropping to Mississippi, Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina, MS State, Tennessee and Oklahoma in that span.
In the loss to the Sooners, Vanderbilt’s only player in double-figures was Saben Lee, with 24 points, eight rebounds and three assists to lead the Commodores in all three categories. Aaron Nesmith would chip in nine points and five rebounds for Vanderbilt there.
Kentucky is 4-0 ATS in their last four after a straight-up win and 4-0 ATS in their last four overall. The Wildcats are 5-1 ATS in their last six games following an ATS win and 4-1 ATS in their last five road games.
Meanwhile, the Commodores are 16-35 ATS in their last 51 overall and 9-20 ATS in their last 29 home games. Vanderbilt is 3-7 ATS in their last 10 Tuesday games and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 versus the SEC.
The last time these two squads played on January 12, the Wildcats escaped with a 56-47 home victory, and marked a pretty uncharacteristic low-scoring outing for Kentucky.
That said, the Commodores have posted just 55 points in two of their last three outings, and if they can’t get things going quickly Vanderbilt won’t be able to keep up.
I’m going to stick with the Wildcats to keep the momentum going and assert themselves toward a big win and cover here.
