The Line: Vanderbilt Commodores +6 -- Over/Under: 159
The NC State Wolfpack and the Vanderbilt Commodores will meet up in college basketball action on Saturday.
The Commodores enter this one with a 5-1 record on the year. Aside from a two-point loss to Kent State, Vanderbilt has taken out Winthrop, USC, Alcorn State, Liberty and Savannah State on the season.
In the Tigers game, the top Vanderbilt scorer was Aaron Nesmith with 20 points, 13 rebounds and three assists. Simi Shittu (17 points, five assists; three rebounds), Maxwell Evans (16 points; four rebounds; three assists) and Yanni Wetzell (15 points; seven rebounds) also had nice lines for Vandy in that one.
As for the Wolfpack, they’re sitting at 6-1 this season. NC State kicked off the year with wins over Mt. St. Mary’s, MD Eastern, UNC Asheville, Maine, Saint Peters and Mercer but dropped their last one to Wisconsin.
In the Badgers game, NC State’s Markell Johnson led the team on 21 points, five assists and three rebounds, while Torin Dorn doubled up with 14 points and 11 rebounds in a nice effort during the 79-75 loss.
Vanderbilt is 10-27 ATS in their last 37 overall and 1-5 ATS in their last six after a straight-up win. The Commodores are 0-5 ATS in their last five following an ATS win and 0-5 ATS in their last five neutral-site games.
Meanwhile, the Wolfpack are 5-2 ATS in their last seven overall and 5-2 ATS in their last seven non-conference games. NC State is 0-4 ATS in their last four neutral-site games and the under is 8-3 in their last 11 versus the SEC.
Vanderbilt is looking like a pretty solid team this year. The Commodores are well-rounded, deep and can put up a ton of points (120 versus Savannah State, for example).
NC State has had some great success this season as well, and they’re loaded with capable scorers. This should be a pretty nice matchup; I’m sticking with the Commodores to keep things close, but otherwise staying away.
