The Wichita State Shockers meet the VCU Rams in Saturday college basketball action.
The Wichita State Shockers thrashed visiting Oral Roberts 84-63 on Wednesday for their 5thwin in six contests. Wichita State was up by three points after 20 minutes before dominating the second half 48-30 behind 43.5% shooting and 20 more shot attempts.
The Shockers saw Markis McDuffie lead all scorers with 25 points on 6-13 from the floor and 10-10 at the stripe followed by a 19 point, six pull effort from Jaime Echenique on 8-11 marksmanship. Samajae Haynes-Jones and Ricky Torres gave Wichita State 13 points apiece while five others contributed 14 points.
The Virginia Commonwealth Rams look to get back in the win column after an 83-79 loss to Charleston as a five point favorite. VCU sank shots at 42.2% and forced 22 turnovers to total 13 more looks at the basket and stay close to the 51% shooting Cougars.
De’Riante Jenkins carried the Rams scoring load with 23 points on 9-19 from the field while Marcus Santos Silva added 16 points and 12 rebounds on 6-9 accuracy and 4-7 at the line. Vince Williams gave VCU 13 points and five boards with Marcus Evans tossing in ten points.
