The UMBC Retrievers take the hardwood with the Vermont Catamounts for the championship of the America East college basketball tournament.
The UMBC Retrievers advanced to the America East championship with a 90-95 victory versus the Hartford Hawks in the semifinals.
UMBC blew a 37-18 halftime lead but recovered in overtime with KJ Jackson leading the way with 21 points and eight boards along with six turnovers.
RJ Eytle-Rock gave the Retrievers 16 points and another eight boards with Brandon Horvath adding 14 points and eight rebounds.
UMBC saw the twosome of Joe Sherburne and Arkel Lamar toss in 12 points apiece while combining to haul in 19 rebounds.
The Vermont Catamounts routed the outmanned Binghamton Bearcats 84-51 as a 17 point favorite to secure a spot in the conference title game.
Stef Smith led the Catamounts rout with a contest high 28 points with five pulls followed by Anthony Lamb with 18 points, three yanks and seven helpers.
Ernie Duncan gave Vermont eight points, three pulls and four assists while three players contributed another six points apiece.
