The Kansas Jayhawks and Villanova Wildcats face off in the Final Four with a trip to the college basketball National Championship game at stake.
The Villanova Wildcats defeated the Texas Tech Red Raiders 71-59 to earn a spot in the Final Four. Villanova opened up a 36-23 lead after 20 minutes and traded baskets the rest of the way with both squads sinking shots at just 33.3% with the Wildcats 29-14 advantage at the charity stripe being decisive.
Jalen Brunson paced a balanced Villanova attack with 15 points and six pulls on 4-14 including 7-8 at the line. The Wildcats received 12 points apiece from Mikal Bridges, Donte DiVincenzo and Eric Paschall with Paschall hauling in 14 rebounds while Omari Spellman added eleven points and six yanks.
The Kansas Jayhawks outlasted the Duke Blue Devils 85-81 in overtime to punch their ticket to the Final Four. Both teams sank shots at around 43% with Kansas holding a 13-7 advantage from beyond the arc as the decisive advantage along with a 46-24 edge on the backboards.
Malik Newman carried the Jayhawks with a contest high 32 points and seven boards on 8-19 and 11-12 at the line followed by Lagerald Vick with 14 points on 6-16. Devonte’ Graham and Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk gave Kansas eleven points each with a combined 16 rebounds and eleven assists on 8-10 while Udoka Azubuike added nine points and eight boards.
