Villanova Wildcats -10.5 O/U: 135
The Providence Friars and the Villanova Wildcats will match up on the college basketball court Wednesday.
Providence enters this one at 14-10 on the year. The Friars had lost three straight against Seton Hall, DePaul and Georgetown, but won their last game versus St. John’s on Saturday.
In the win over the Red Storm, Providence’s lead scorer was Nate Watson on 18 points with five rebounds. Isaiah Jackson added 12 points and seven boards for the Friars in that one, and Alpha Diallo doubled up on 15 rebounds and 10 points.
Over on the Villanova side, they’re 19-5 this year. Following a lengthy 11-game win streak, the Wildcats fell to Marquette 66-65 in a heartbreaker during their last game Saturday.
In the loss to the Eagles, Villanova’s Phil Booth led the way on 19 points, two assists and three rebounds. Eric Paschall put up 17 points with six rebounds for the Wildcats there, and Saddiq Bey logged 10 points with six boards.
The Friars are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 road games and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 Wednesday games. Providence is 0-4 ATS in their last four after an ATS win and the under is 4-0-1 in the last five road games.
Meanwhile, the Wildcats are 7-1 ATS in their last eight versus the Big East and 5-1 ATS in their last six after an ATS win. Villanova is 21-8 ATS in their last 29 home games and 42-18 ATS in their last 60 overall.
Though things were tight initially, the Friars dispatched a pretty good St. John’s team in their last outing, and looked solid doing it. It was a nice bounce-back for Providence after failing to eclipse 67 points in any of their previous three games.
I’m not sure Providence can carry that momentum into this game, but I think they’ve got the talent to keep things reasonably close at least. I’m going with the Friars on the cover here.
