The defending National Champion Villanova Wildcats take the floor with the Purdue Boilermakers in Saturday Field of 32 college basketball action.

The Villanova Wildcats squeezed by the Saint Mary’s Gaels 61-57 as a 3.5 point favorite to move on to round two of the NCAA tournament.

Phil Booth carried the Wildcats offense with a contest high 20 points and six helpers with Eric Paschall tossing in 14 points and snagging six boards.

Jermaine Samuels gave Villanova another 12 points and seven rebounds while Dhamir Cosby-Roundtree chipped in with four points and five boards.

The Purdue Boilermakers turned to their defense in dispatching the Old Dominion Monarchs 61-48 as a 12.5 point favorite in round one.

Carsen Edwards led all scorers with 26 points, seven boards and four assists but was just 7-23 from the field while Matt Haarms gave the Boilermakers 13 points and four pulls on 5-6.

Purdue received another seven points from Aaron Wheeler followed by Grady Eifert with six points and RPyan Cline with five points and seven rebounds.

Villanova Wildcats are 11-2 ATS in their last 13 vs. Big Ten and  are 14-3 ATS in their last 17 NCAA Tournament games and  are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 Saturday games and are 39-15 ATS in their last 54 non-conference games.

Purdue Boilermakers are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games following a straight up win and  are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record and  are 2-7 ATS in their last 9 vs. Big East and  are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS win.

Villanova is obviously a step back from where the team has been the past few years but I would argue they are at least on par with Purdue so I’ll take the points…

Villanova +4.5

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
