The Duke Blue Devils and Virginia Cavaliers meet Saturday in college basketball action at the John Paul Jones Arena.
The Duke Blue Devils look for another win to build on their six-game winning streak. RJ Barrett is averaging 23 points and 7.2 rebounds while Zion Williamson is averaging 22 points and 2.3 assists. Cam Reddish is the third double-digit scorer and Tre Jones is dishing 5.5 assists. The Duke Blue Devils are shooting 30.8 percent from beyond the arc and 67.6 percent from the free throw line. The Duke Blue Devils are allowing 28.8 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 40.8 rebounds per game. The Duke Blue Devils have won all four road games this season.
The Virginia Cavaliers need a statement victory to build on their four-game winning streak. The Virginia Cavaliers are averaging 72.9 points on 47.7 percent shooting and allowing 52.9 points on 37 percent shooting. De'Andre Hunter is averaging 14.7 points and 2.2 assists while Kyle Guy is averaging 14.5 points and 4.5 rebounds. Ty Jerome is the third double-digit scorer and Braxton Key is grabbing 5.9 rebounds. The Virginia Cavaliers are shooting 39.5 percent from beyond the arc and 76.1 percent from the free throw line. The Blue Devils are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 road games, 7-3 ATS in their last 10 Saturday games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Cavaliers are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games, 18-7-1 ATS in their last 26 vs. Atlantic Coast and 36-14-1 ATS in their last 51 games overall. The Blue Devils are 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings in Virginia and 2-7 ATS in the last 9 meetings. The under is 7-2 in Cavaliers last 9 home games. The under is 3-0-1 in Blue Devils last 4 road games.
It's hard to turn down free points with the Duke Blue Devils, who are probably the most talented college basketball team we've seen in years. The problem is Virginia already took Duke down to the wire once this season and win that game if anything from the outside drops. The Virginia Cavaliers are winning by an average of 26.3 points while allowing just 33.3 percent shooting at home this season. Expect the Cavs to be better defensively this time around and for the home crowd to do its part against a still very green Duke squad. I'll take Virginia and the small chalk.
