Virginia Cavaliers -10.5 O/U: 132.5
The North Carolina State Wolfpack and the Virginia Cavaliers will match up on the college basketball court Thursday in the ACC Tournament.
NC State enters this one at 22-10 overall this year. The Wolfpack are 2-2 in their last four games, falling to Florida State and Georgia Tech before taking out Boston College and then Clemson in the first round of the tournament.
In the win over the Tigers, NC State’s Markell Johnson was the only player on the team in double-figures with 23 points, four assists and two rebounds. Torin Dorn led the Wolfpack in rebounds there with 12 points and eight points.
Over on the Virginia side, they’re 28-2 this year. The Cavaliers are currently on an eight-game win streak, taking out UNC, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, Louisville, Georgia Tech, Pitt, Syracuse and Louisville in that time.
In the win over the Cardinals, Virginia’s Ty Jerome led the team with 24 points, six assists and four rebounds. Kyle Guy also finished in double-figures for the Cavaliers with 13 points and five rebounds in that one.
The Wolfpack are 4-1 ATS in their last five overall and 5-1 ATS in their last six versus a team with a winning straight-up record. NC State is 6-0 ATS in their last six games after a straight-up win and 4-1 ATS in their last five versus the ACC.
Meanwhile, the Cavaliers are 5-1 ATS in their last six versus the ACC and 13-3 ATS in their last 16 after an ATS loss. Virginia is 42-17-1 ATS in their last 60 overall and 37-17-1 ATS in their last 55 after a straight-up win.
Well, if nothing else the Wolfpack deserve some major credit for falling behind 42-26 at halftime to Clemson and roaring back with a 33-16 second half for an exhilarating 59-58 win in the first round. The Wolfpack are normally a pretty good scoring team but they’ve had two duds in their last three games, with 120 total points scored in those.
As for Virginia, they had some trouble with NC State back on January 29 and barely hung on 66-65. This one’s probably something of a coin flip as far as the spread, but I’m going to trust the Wolfpack to hang in there once again.
