Sweet 16 college basketball action pits the Oregon Ducks against the Virginia Cavaliers.

The red hot Oregon Ducks routed the UC Irvine Anteaters 79-54 as a five point favorite on Sunday night to advance to the Sweet 16.

Payton Pritchard was the Ducks top weapon with 18 points, four pulls and seven helpers while Louis King tossed in 16 points and snagged four boards.

Ehab Amin gave Virginia 12 points, four pulls and three steals followed by Kenny Wooten who added another eleven points and seven blocks.

The Virginia Cavaliers turned to their defense in upending the Oklahoma Sooners 63-51 as an eleven point favorite to head to the Sweet 16.

Mamadi Diakite paced the balanced Cavaliers offense with 14 points and nine rebounds followed by Ty Jerome who netted 12 points.

De’Andre Hunter gave Virginia ten points and three yanks while Kihei Clark and Braxton Key tossed in nine points each with Key hauling in nine rebounds.

Oregon Ducks are 7-0 ATS in their last 7 neutral site games and  are 10-1 ATS in their last 11 games following a straight up win and  are 10-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall and  are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 non-conference games.

Virginia Cavaliers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games and  are 44-19-1 ATS in their last 64 games overall and  are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 Thursday games and  are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 NCAA Tournament games.

Oregon has been impressive in their two tournament wins and going back a month ago. Virginia needed a second half rally to upend Gardner-Webb in their NCAA opener and had trouble putting Oklahoma away. I think taking the points with the red hots Ducks is the way to go…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
