As a team, Furman is averaging 80.6 points per game on 47.1% shooting from the field, 35.3% from behind the arc and 66.9% from the foul line this season.
The VMI Keydets will look to rebound from back-to-back losses following a 71-68 loss to UNC-Greensboro gave the Keydets 7 losses in their last 8 games. Bubba Parham led the Keydets with 17 points on 6 of 12 shooting with a team-high 5 assists while Garrett Gilkeson and Sarju Patel each had 14 points to finish off the trio of double-digit scorers for VMI in the loss with Gilkeson adding 3 threes and a team-high 8 rebounds while Patel added a 7 of 7 mark from the foul line. Furman is 21-6 ATS in their last 27 games against a team with a losing record and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 conference games while the under is 6-2 in their last 8 road games. VMI is 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 games against a team with a winning record and 3-9-1 ATS in their last 13 conference games while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall. Furman is 6-0 ATS in the last 6 meetings between these two teams and the favorite is 8-0 ATS in the last 8 meetings between these two teams.
Furman has been the team to beat in the SoCon this year and I don’t see that changing against a VMI team that the Paladins have had their way with in recent years. Furman has not only covered in the last 6 meetings, but they’ve won each by at least 12 points, by an average of 22.8 points per game over that stretch. I just can’t see VMI keeping up here, so I’ll lay the points with the better team in this spot and that’s Furman.
