Western Carolina Catamounts (11-13) at VMI Keydets (7-15)
|Date & Time||Thursday February 8, 2018, 7:00 PM (EST)|
The Line: VMI Keydets +2.5 -- Over/Under:
Out at Cameron Hall on Thursday, the Western Carolina Catamounts and the VMI Keydets will be meeting up on the college basketball court.
Western Carolina comes in here with a 11-13 record overall. The Catamounts have won their last two games, taking out Chattanooga and Samford. In the Samford game, WCU forward Mike Amius put up 28 points to lead the team.
Western Carolina’s leading scorer this season is also Amius, who has 13.0 PPG and 5.9 RPG. The only other Catamounts player averaging in double-digits is Deriece Parks with 10.3 PPG and 3.4 RPG to his name.
As for VMI, they’re sitting at 7-15 on the year. The Keydets have lost three of their last four games, most recently falling to UNC Greensboro last Thursday. In that one, VMI guard Austin Vereen was tops on 14 points.
Bubba Parham is the leading VMI scorer this season with 15.0 PPG, 3.6 RPG and 2.5 APG to his credit. Vereen is the only other Keydets player in double-figures with 10.6 PPG and 4.6 RPG averages this year.
Western Carolina is 7-3 ATS in their last 10 Thursday games and 0-4 ATS in the last four games following an ATS win. The over is 4-0 in the Catamounts’ last four overall and 4-0 in the last four versus the Southern.
Meanwhile, the Keydets are 4-1 ATS in the last five after a straight-up loss and 2-6 ATS in their last eight Thursday games. The under is 18-5 in VMI’s last 23 versus the Southern and 21-6 in their last 27 overall.
Western Carolina has been somewhat uneven lately, as they’ve got a total of 266 points scored across their last three wins and just 134 over their last two losses. The last time these two teams met, the Catamounts took a 65-58 victory. This one should be close, but I think VMI has a decent shot at covering here.
