The Charlotte 49ers and the Wake Forest Demon Deacons meet in college basketball action from Laurence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Thursday night.
The Charlotte 49ers will look to rebound from back-to-back losses, falling to 2-4 on the year after a 72-64 loss to Charleston in their last outing. Jon Davis led the 49ers with 21 points on 6 of 16 shooting with 3 triples and a team-high 6 assists while Malik Martin added 14 points with 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Dravon Mangum added 12 points on 4 of 7 shooting from behind the 3-point line with a team-high 8 rebounds to round out the scoring in double-digits for Charlotte in the losing effort. Davis leads the 49ers with an average of 20.3 points and 3.8 assists per game while Milos Supica leads Charlotte on the glass with 5.5 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Charlotte is averaging 59.3 points per game on 39.8% shooting from the field, 29.7% from behind the 3-point line and 81.3% from the foul line this season.
The Wake Forest Demon Deacons will be looking to bounce back from a 74-64 loss to Richmond in their last outing. Brandon Childress and Isaiah Mucius each had 17 points with Childress shooting 6 of 12 with 3 triples and a team-high 3 assists while Mucius shot 6 of 9 with a team-high 7 rebounds. Chaundee Brown added 16 points while Jaylen Hoard added 11 points and 6 rebounds to round out the quartet of double-digit scorers for Wake in the losing effort. Childress leads Wake Forest with an average of 17.4 points and 4.4 assists per game while Hoard leads the Demon Deacons with an average of 8.3 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Wake Forest is averaging 75.7 points per game on 44.6% shooting from the field, 39.1% from behind the arc and 73.2% from the foul line this season.
Charlotte is 18-37-1 ATS in their last 56 road games and 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games against the ACC while the under is 3-1-1 in their last 5 games against the ACC. Wake Forest is 0-6 ATS in their last 6 home games and 7-21 ATS in their last 28 games overall while the under is 3-1-1 in their last 5 games against C-USA. The under is 3-0-1 in the last 4 meetings between these two teams.
Neither of these two teams have been anything to write home about ATS dating back to last season, so it’s hard to stomach this heavy of a line. However, Wake Forest is easily the better team offensively here, as the 49ers are struggling to crack 60 points on a nightly basis. Wake Forest has been brutal at home ATS, but they’ve won the last two meetings against Charlotte by a combined 40 points, so if forced to pick, I’d lay the points with Wake at home here.
