The Line: Washington State -6 -- Over/Under: 159
The California Golden Bears and Washington State Cougars meet Thursday in college basketball action at the Friel Court.
The California Golden Bears could use a win here to snap a five-game losing streak. The California Golden Bears are averaging 72.7 points on 44.7 percent shooting and allowing 80.1 points on 49.8 percent shooting. Justice Sueing is averaging 14.4 points and 6.4 rebounds while Paris Austin is averaging 13.6 points and 4.9 assists. Darius McNeill is the third double-digit scorer and Matt Bradley is grabbing 3.1 rebounds. The California Golden Bears are shooting 36.6 percent from beyond the arc and 76.4 percent from the free throw line. The California Golden Bears are allowing 38.3 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 26.8 rebounds per game. The California Golden Bears have lost all four road games this season.
The Washington State Cougars could also use a win that would snap a six-game losing streak. The Washington State Cougars are averaging 79.1 points on 45.9 percent shooting and allowing 78.4 points on 46.1 percent shooting. Robert Franks is averaging 22.1 points and 2.9 assists while CJ Elleby is averaging 16 points and 7.1 rebounds. Carter Skaggs is grabbing 2.1 rebounds and Ahmed Ali is dishing 2.9 assists. The Washington State Cougars are shooting 34.6 percent from beyond the arc and 74.2 percent from the free throw line. The Washington State Cougars are allowing 35 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 31.9 rebounds per game. The Washington State Cougars have won seven of their last eight home games.
The Golden Bears are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games, 1-4 ATS in their last 5 vs. Pacific-12 and 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games overall. The Cougars are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a straight up loss, 1-4 ATS in their last 5 vs. Pacific-12 and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall. The road team is 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings. The over is 20-7 in Cougars last 27 overall. The over is 6-1 in Golden Bears last 7 overall.
I'm going to assume that Robert Franks will be good to go in this game, and if that's the case, I'll eat the reasonable chalk with the Washington State Cougars. The California Golden Bears are a mess on the defensive side of the ball and things get worse on the road where they're allowing 54.1 percent shooting and losing by an average of 14.8 points. Washington State has its issues as well, but it is 6-1 ATS at home this season and there's a chance the Cougars get their best player back. I'll lay the points.
