The Utah Utes and the Washington State Cougars meet in Pac 12 college basketball action from the Wallis Beasley Performing Arts Coliseum on Saturday night.

The Utah Utes will look to rebound from a 62-45 loss to the Washington Huskies in their last outing. Sedrick Barefield led the Utes with 12 points on 4 of 7 shooting from 3-point range as the only Utah player to score in double figures in the losing effort. Both Gach added 9 points while Riley Battin had 8 points and 8 rebounds. Jayce Johnson pulled down a team-high 12 rebounds as well in the loss for the Utes. Barefield leads Utah with an average of 16.1 points and 4 assists per game while Johnson leads the Utes in rebounding with 7.3 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Utah is averaging 75.3 points per game on 46.7% shooting from the field, 37.6% from behind the 3-point line and 69.8% from the foul line this season.

The Washington State Cougars will look to keep their momentum going after winning 3 of their last 4 games after a 76-74 win over Colorado last time out. Robert Franks led the Cougars with 19 points along with 6 rebounds while CJ Elleby came right behind with 18 points on 6 of 13 shooting with a team-high 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Marvin Cannon had 13 points with 5 rebounds and 3 blocks while Ahmed Ali added 11 points on 4 of 6 shooting including 3 of 3 from behind the arc in just 16 minutes to round out the group of double-digit scorers for Washington State in the win. Isaiah Wade added 4 points and a team-high 8 rebounds while Jervae Robinson had 5 points and 4 assists. Franks leads Washington State in scoring with 22.1 points per game while Elleby leads the Cougars with 6.7 rebounds and 3 assists per game this season. As a team, Washington State is averaging 77.2 points per game on 46% shooting from the field, 36.6% from behind the 3-point line and 76.1% from the foul line this season.

Utah is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 road games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games against a team with a losing record while the over is 6-2 in their last 8 games overall. Washington State is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 14-5 in their last 19 home games. The home team is 13-3 ATS in the last 16 meetings between these two teams.

This is a tough game to call, as the style of play favors the Utes who like to run and gun and play a track meet style where the first to 80 or 90 wins. However, Utah has been slowed down lately by the likes of Washington and Arizona State and while I don’t have the Cougars in the same group as those two teams, the home team has had a lot of success in this matchup and the Cougars have put forth some decent performances as of late, so I’ll side with Washington State at home in this pick ‘em scenario.
