The Sacramento State Hornets will travel to the Dee Events Center to take on the Weber State Wildcats this Saturday night in College Basketball action.
The Sacramento State Hornets improved to 9-9 (3-6 Big Sky) on the season after defeating the Idaho State Bengals, 74-58, this past Thursday. Sacramento State came out of the gates strong on the road and had no trouble securing the victory after taking a 42-22 halftime lead. Sacramento State shot 54.9% from the field and 46.2% from beyond the arc while holding the Bengals to just 23.1% shooting from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Hornets was Marcus Graves who had 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists.

Offensively, Sacramento State has been led by Marcus Graves (16.2 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 5.6 apg, 1.9 spg), Joshua Patton (13.9 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 2.0 bpg), Izayah Mauriohooho-Le’afa (8.6 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 2.3 apg, 1.2 spg), and Bryce Fowler (7.6 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 3.0 apg, 1.0 spg).
Defensively, Sacramento State is holding their opponents to an average of 71.0 ppg on 43.5% shooting from the field. The Hornets have a rebound margin of 0.9 and a turnover margin of 2.8.
The Weber State Wildcats lost their 2nd straight game and dropped to 13-8 (7-3 Big Sky) on the season after they were upset at home by the Portland State Vikings, 76-75, this past Thursday. Weber State let by a 60-48 margin mid-way through the 2nd half, however, struggled offensively down the stretch and couldn’t fight back after a pair of Derek Brown FT’s for the Vikings made it a two possession game with just :04 seconds left in regulation. Weber State shot just 26.7% from beyond the arc and was outrebounded by the Vikings by a 44-27 margin in the loss. Leading the way for the Wildcats was Jerrick Harding who had 28 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.
On the season, Weber State is averaging 81.8 ppg on 48.5% shooting from the field. The Wildcats are averaging 7.3 three-pointers per game on 36.3% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Weber State has been led by Jerrick Harding (21.8 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 1.2 apg, 1.6 spg), Cody John (14.7 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 1.9 apg), Brekkott Chapman (12.7 ppg, 9.1 rpg, 2.0 apg, 2.1 bpg), and Caleb Nero (7.5 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 1.6 apg).
Defensively, Weber State is allowing their opponents to average 74.2 ppg on 42.2% shooting from the field. The Wildcats have a rebound margin of 1.9 and a turnover margin of -1.3.
The Hornets are 0-6 ATS in their last 6 Saturday games and 0-5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. The Wildcats are 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 games following a ATS loss and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall.
Sacramento State has lost 7 of their last 10 games and although their defense has been decent as they rank just 82nd in scoring defense, the Hornets have really struggled offensively as they rank just 246th in scoring offense. Weber State has won 8 of their last 11 games and have been led by their offense that ranks 32nd in scoring offense, 26th in FG%, and 84th in 3P-FG%.
Weber State had a disappointing outing agianst Portland State, however, I’m confident that the Wildcats will be able to get back on track against a Hornets team that can really struggle on the offensive end. Weber State won by double-digits in both of their games against the Hornets last season and the Kings are just 3-6 on the road this season, I’m taking Weber State to win this one by double-digits and cover. Good Luck!
