The Line: West Virginia Mountaineers -28 -- Over/Under: 156.5
The Youngstown State Penguins and the West Virginia Mountaineers will meet up in college basketball action Saturday.
Youngstown State enters this one at 3-5 on the year. The Penguins have taken out Westminster (PA), Heidelberg and Columbia but otherwise lost to Pitt, Akron, Fordham, FIU and Robert Morris.
In the Colonials matchup, Youngstown State’s lead scorer was Kendale Hampton with 21 points and two boards. Leading the rebounding was Naz Bohannon, who didn’t score but posted nine boards and one assist.
Over on the West Virginia side, they’re sitting at 4-2 so far. The Mountaineers have fallen to Buffalo and Western Kentucky but beaten Monmouth, Saint Joseph’s, Valparaiso and Rider.
In the Broncs game, WVU’s Lamont West led the scoring on 20 points and seven rebounds, and Esa Ahmad had another nice line with 16 points, seven rebounds and two assists.
Youngstown State is 3-8 ATS in their last 11 road games and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 overall. The Penguins are also 0-4 ATS in their last four following an ATS loss and 0-5 ATS in their last five following a straight-up loss.
Meanwhile, the Mountaineers are 7-19 ATS in their last 26 Saturday games and 1-5 ATS in their last six home games. WVU is 1-6 ATS in their last seven non-conference games and 1-6 ATS in their last seven overall.
Youngstown State’s record looks pretty shoddy so far, but they have put up a few solid offensive performances here and there (and some real duds as well).
As for West Virginia, they’re too talented of a team to get tripped up here, so I’m going with the Mountaineers for the cover—even though they’ve been ice cold ATS lately.
