Summit League college basketball action on Saturday pits the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons against the Western Illinois Leathernecks.

The Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons saw their six game winning streak end in an 87-73 loss at South Dakota as a two point road favorite.

Purdue Fort Wayne led by five at the intermission but couldn’t get stops over the final 20 minutes with South Dakota hitting shots at 54.4%.

The Mastodons saw Matt Weir pour in 20 points with three assists while John Konchar added 13 points, six boards and six helperbsters.

Kason Harrell and Dylan Carl gave Purdue Fort Wayne 13 points each and a combined ten rebounds with Marcus DeBerry chipping in with nine points and four pulls.

The Western Illinois Leathernecks need a boost in momentum after an 90-71 defeat to Nebraska Omaha has the team staring at four straight losses.

Western Illinois was down 12 points after 20 minutes and didn’t have the firepower to mount a comeback with the Mavericks sinking shots at  over 50%.

Kobe Webster was the Leathernecks top gun with 22 points with Isaac Johnson tossing in eleven points and posting four pulls.

Ben Pyle gave WIU another eleven points with Brandon Gilbeck adding ten points and eleven rebounds followed by Zion Young and CJ Duff with seven points each.
