Western Kentucky Hilltoppers -3.5 O/U: 129.5
The North Texas Mean Green and the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers will meet up on the college basketball court in the Conference USA Tournament Thursday.
North Texas enters this one at 21-11 overall. The Mean Green had an ugly seven-game losing streak going before heading into the tournament, but were able to dispatch FIU 71-57 on Wednesday.
In the win over the Panthers, North Texas’ lead scorer was Umoja Gibson with 21 points, four assists and two rebounds. Zachary Simmonds doubled up for the Green in that one with 19 points and 16 rebounds.
Over on the Western Kentucky side, they’re 18-13 this year. The Hilltoppers managed consecutive wins over UAB and Southern Miss, but then dropped to UTSA in their last game.
In the loss to the Roadrunners, Western Kentucky’s lead scorer was Charles Bassey with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Lamonte Bearden added 17 points and eight rebounds for the Hilltoppers there and Jared Savage chipped in 14 points with six boards.
The under is 7-1 ATS in the Hilltoppers’ last eight after an ATS loss and they’re 7-2 in their last nine after a straight-up loss. The under is 17-8-2 in Western Kentucky's last 27 neutral-site games.
Meanwhile, the under is 15-5-1 ATS in the Green’s last 21 Thursday games and they’re 1-4 ATS in their last five Thursday games. North Texas is 0-7 ATS in their last seven after an ATS win.
Western Kentucky is one of those teams where you don’t exactly know what you’re going to get from game to game, but the majority of their matchups lately have been pretty competitive at least.
I’m a little on the fence here given how unpredictable the Hilltoppers are, but they should have enough juice to bag this cover if they come out and play well.
