The Cincinnati Bearcats will travel to Charles Koch Arena to take on the Wichita State Shockers this Saturday afternoon in College Basketball action.

The Cincinnati Bearcats won their 3rd straight game and improved to 15-3 (4-1 AAC) on the season after defeating the South Florida Bulls, 82-74, this past Tuesday night. Cincinnati had all they could handle from the Bulls, however, the defensive was solid down the stretch and the Bearcats were able to pull away after taking a 79-72 lead with 1:37 left in regulation. Cincinnati shot 45.1% from the field and forced South Florida into 21 turnovers in the victory. Leading the way for the Bearcats was Jarron Cumberland who had 34 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals.

On the season, Cincinnati is averaging 75.1 ppg on 46.1% shooting from the field. The Bearcats are averaging 6.2 three-pointers per game on 34.4% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Cincinnati has been led by Jarron Cumberland (17.8 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 3.4 apg, 1.4 spg), Keith Williams (11.2 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 1.3 spg), Tre Scott (9.6 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 1.5 apg), and Nysier Brooks (8.8 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 1.6 bpg).

Defensively, Cincinnati is holding their opponents to an average of 61.1 ppg on 39.9% shooting from the field. The Bearcats have a rebound margin of 5.1 and a turnover margin of 4.6.

The Wichita State Shockers snapped their 4-game losing streak and improved to 8-8 (1-3 AAC) on the season after defeating the UCF Knights, 75-67, this past Wednesday night. Wichita State was outstanding on the offensive end against the tough UCF defense and was able to pull away after taking a 69-63 lead with 1:08 left in regulation. Wichita State shot 51.9% from the field and outrebounded UCF by a 35-22 margin in the victory. Leading the way for the Shockers was Markis McDuffie who had 23 points, 5 rebounds, and 1 steal.

On the season, Wichita State is averaging 71.3 ppg on 41.9% shooting from the field. The Shockers are averaging 7.3 three-pointers per game on 31.0% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Wichita State has been led by Markis McDuffie (19.6 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 1.1 spg), Samajae Haynes-Jones (13.1 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 3.1 apg), Jaime Echenique (8.7 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 1.3 bpg), and Dexter Dennis (7.6 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 1.2 apg).

Defensively, Wichita State is allowing their opponents to average 72.0 ppg on 44.1% shooting from the field. The Shockers have a rebound margin of 3.1 and a turnover margin of -0.4.

The Bearcats are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following a straight up won and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 road games. The Shockers are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 Saturday games and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games vs. AAC opponents.

Cincinnati has won 6 of their last 7 games and once again have been led by their defense which currently ranks 11th in scoring defense, 34th in defensive FG%, and 56th in rebound margin. Wichita State had a solid offensive performance against a very good UCF defense, however, will need to improve their T-246th ranked scoring offense & 298th FG% if the Shockers want to continue to pick up conference victories.

Cincinnati is a tough defensive team, however, the Bearcats have really struggled against the spread as of late and are just 2-2 in their last four games which those victories were by just an average of 4.5 ppg. Wichita State might not be as talented as we’ve seen in the past, however, there is no denying that they are still tough at home after defeating a very good UCF team. I expect this low-scoring tight game so give me points. Take Wichita State and the points!

Pick:
Wichita State Shockers +4
