Wichita State Shockers -5 O/U: 143.5
The Connecticut Huskies and the Wichita State Shockers will match up on the college basketball circuit Thursday.
UConn is currently sitting at 13-14 this year. The Huskies are riding a five-game losing skid, falling to Temple, Memphis, Houston, SMU and Cincinnati during that stretch of games.
In the loss to the Bearcats, UConn’s top scorer was Christian Vital with 14 points, seven rebounds and one assist. The only other Huskies player in double-figures there was Alterique Gilbert on 13 points, five assists and two rebounds.
Over on the Wichita State side, they’re 13-13 this season. The Shockers are just 1-2 in the last three games, with a win over Tulsa sandwiched between losses to Cincinnati and Memphis.
In the loss to the Tigers, Wichita State’s Dexter Dennis and Jaime Echenique led the scoring with 17 points apiece (Echinique also added 12 rebounds). Jamarius Burton was also in double-figures for the Shockers on 10 points with nine assists.
Connecticut is 5-1 ATS in their last six after a straight-up loss and 4-1 ATS in the last five Thursday games. The Huskies are 7-2 ATS in their last nine overall and 4-12 ATS in their last 16 road games.
Meanwhile, the Shockers are 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven overall and 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven versus the AAC. Wichita State is 1-4 ATS in their last five Thursday games and 1-4-1 ATS in their last six after an ATS loss.
Well, things have been tough for the Huskies during this losing streak. They’ve tallied more than 63 points just once during that five-game stretch, with a low of 59 in a blowout defeat at the hands of SMU.
Wichita State has had some ups and downs as well, but on the whole they’re scoring better and shouldn’t have too many issues here. I’m sticking with the at-home Shockers on the cover.
