The Gardner-Webb Bulldogs head to Wichita, Kansas on Tuesday for a game against the Wichita State Shockers in a game between teams from the Big South and American Conference. In their last game, Gardner-Webb was defeated by the University of North Carolina by the score of 77-61. Jose Perez led the Bulldogs in points as he scored 12 in the game while shooting 5 of 12 from the field and 2 of 4 from the free throw line. Perez also led Gardner-Webb in rebounds with 5 as well as assists with 5 in the 36 minutes that he played in the game.
After the loss, Gardner-Webb is now 0-3 on the season and their match up with the Shockers doesn’t present any relief in sight. Jose Perez leads the Bulldogs in scoring as he as averaging 14.7 points per game, as well as assists per game with 3.3. Ludovic Dufeal is the Bulldog’s leading rebounder as he as averaged 6 per game.
The Wichita State Shockers welcome the Gardner-Webb Bulldogs into town after winning their last game 103-62 against the Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks. Tyson Etienne led the Shockers in scoring as he put up 21 points while shooting 7 of 10 from the field and 1 of 2 from the free throw line. Trey Wade led the Shockers in rebounds as he recorded 7 in the game including 1 coming offensively. Grant Sherfield led Wichita State in assists in the game as he recorded 6 while playing 21 minutes in the game.
With the win, the Shockers are now 3-0 on the season and look like one of the top teams in the American Conference. Dexter Dennis leads Wichita State in scoring on the year as he has averaged 14.3 points per game. Trey Wade lead the Shockers in rebounding as he has recorded 9.7 rebounds per game. Grant Sherfield leads the Shockers in assists per game as he has recorded 4 per game so far this season.
Gardner-Webb is scoring 61 points per game while allowing an average of 72.7 points per game. Wichita State is averaging 80 points per game while allowing 59.7 points per game. The Shockers are simply a much better team than the Bulldogs, so I have to go with them in this one. I believe the Shockers offense is too powerful for the Bulldogs to stop and the Bulldogs offense wont be able to penitrate the Shockers defense. Wichita State wins 80-62 and covers the spread.
