Winthrop -21.5 / over-under: 148.5
Big South college basketball features the Winthrop Eagles hosting the UNC Asheville Bulldogs on Monday.
The struggles of the UNC Asheville Bulldogs continued Saturday with a 71-63 loss to Radford as a 16.5 point underdog at home.
UNC Asheville was down nine at the intermission and could only trade baskets the rest of the way with Radford winning the shooting battle 51%-41.5%.
Devon Baker kept the Bulldogs in upset mode pouring in 26 points while Luke Lawson contributed 14 points and three yanks.
Coty Jude gave North Carolina Asheville eight points and three pulls with Donovan Gilmore tossing in five points but secondary scoring was difficult to come by.
The Winthrop Eagles improved to 4-1 in the Big South following an 82-72 victory against South Carolina Upstate as an eight point road favorite.
Winthrop trailed by eight points at the halfway point before a dominant 43-25 second half run secured the victory.
Nych Smith led the Eagles comeback with 23 points and four pulls with Adam Pickett adding 16 points and seven boards.
Winthrop received 14 points and eight rebounds from Kyle Zunic followed by Bjorn Broman and Josh Ferguson with eight points each with Ferguson grabbing eight rebounds.
Over is 7-1 in UNCA last 8 overall and UNCA are 4-11 ATS in their last 15 road games. Under is 21-8 in Winthrop last 29 home games and Winthrop are 5-2-1 ATS in their last 8 games overall.
This isn’t the same Bulldogs squad that has been one of the bigger names in the Big South. UNC Asheville is being outscored by an average of 25.3 points on the road this season while shooting just 38.8 percent from the field. The Winthrop Eagles are also a solid 9-5-1 ATS this season. Winthrop likely adds to the Bulldogs misery.
