Wright State Raiders -10.5 -- O/U: 148
The UIC Flames and the Wright State Raiders meet in Horizon League college basketball action from the Nutter Center on Friday night.
The UIC Flames will try to break out of a logjam in the middle of the Horizon League standings after improving to 7-6 in conference play with a 71-58 win over Green Bay last time out. Tarkus Ferguson leads the trio of double-digit scorers for UIC with team-highs of 14.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game while Marcus Ottey is averaging 12.1 points per game and Godwin Boahen is chipping in 10.3 points per game this season. As a team, UIC is averaging 67.7 points per game on 43.9% shooting from the field, 34% from behind the arc and 68.8% from the foul line while allowing their opponents to average 70.6 points per game on 42.1% shooting from the field and 30.8% from behind the arc. UIC is 4-8 straight up and 8-3-1 against the spread on the road this season.
The Wright State Raiders will look to keep their spot atop the Horizon League after improving to 11-2 in conference play with an 83-71 win over Oakland last time out. Loudon Love and Billy Wampler are tied for the team lead in scoring with 15.3 points per game with Love leading the Raiders in rebounding with 9.9 rebounds per game. Tanner Holden is averaging 12 points per game and Cole Gentry is chipping in 11.2 points per game while Jaylon Hall leads the Raiders in assists with 3.2 assists per game. As a team, Wright State is averaging 81.8 points per game on 45.9% shooting from the field, 37.1% from behind the arc and 67.3% from the foul line while allowing 70.9 points on 41.9% from the field and 30% from 3-point range this season. Wright State is 12-2 straight up and 5-5-2 against the spread at home this season.
Head to head, the underdog is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
The points with UIC are extremely tempting given how well UIC has played on the road this season, and before the line came out I thought I’d go Flames. However, while UIC has won four straight road games and already have a win over Wright State this season, the Raiders are simply lighting it up right now, averaging 86 points per game and outscoring teams by 11.4 points per game across their last 5 games. The Raiders are also winning by 10.2 points and scoring 82.9 points per game during conference play and logging 84.8 points per game at home while outscoring teams by 14.9 points on home soil this season. I just think this spot screams revenge for Wright State, so while it’s a thick number, I’ll lay the points with Wright State at home.
