Wright State Raiders -7.5 -- Over/Under: 140.5
The IUPUI Jaguars will travel to the Nutter Center to take on the Wright State Raiders this Tuesday night in the quarterfinals of the Horizon League Men’s Championship.
The IUPUI Jaguars finished their regular season with a 16-15 overall record and earned the 8-seed in the Horizon League Men’s Championship after finishing conference play with an 8-10 record. IUPUI got off to a great start to their season as they started their season with an 8-3 record with solid wins at Boston College and at home agianst Bradley, however, the Jaguars struggled down the stretch as they lost 6 of their last 8 games. IUPUI has been led by their offense that ranks 78th in scoring offense and 111th in FG%, however, their defense has struggled at times as they come into this match-up ranked just 235th in scoring defense and 251st in defensive FG%.
On the season, IUPUI is averaging 76.7 ppg on 45.6% shooting from the field. The Jaguars are averaging 7.2 three-pointers per game on 34.3% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, IUPUI has been led by Camron Justice (18.9 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 2.9 apg, 1.3 spg), Jaylen Minnett (11.9 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 1.9 apg), Evan Hall (9.9 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 1.7 apg, 1.2 bpg), and D.J. McCall (7.5 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 2.2 apg, 1.3 spg).
Defensviely, IUPUI is allowing their opponents to average 73.5 ppg on 45.0% shooting from the field. The Jaguars have a rebound margin of 5.1 and a turnover margin of 0.3.
The Wright State Raiders came into this season with high expectations and hope that they can make it back to the NCAA Tournament after finishing the regular season with an overall record of 19-12 and earning the top-seed in the Horizon League Men’s Championship after finishing conference play with a 13-5 record. Wright State was solid on both ends of the court this season as the Raiders enter this match-up ranked 139th in scoring offense, 82nd in scoring defense, and 84th in rebound margin. Wright State picked up some solid wins agianst Toledo and Northern Kentucky and come into this game winners of 11 of their last 13 games.
On the season, Wright State is averaging 73.8 ppg on 44.1% shooting from the field. The Raiders are averaging 8.0 three-pointers per game on 34.4% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Wright State has been led by Loudon Love (15.6 ppg, 8.1 rpg, 1.0 apg), Billy Wampler (14.6 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 1.2 apg), Cole Gentry (12.0 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 3.4 apg, 1.3 spg), and Mark Hughes (9.3 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 2.8 apg, 1.0 spg).
Defensively, Wright State is holding their opponents to an average of 67.8 ppg on 45.6% shooting from the field. The Raiders have a rebound margin of 3.2 and a turnover margin of 2.3.
The Jaguars are 10-4-1 ATS in their last 15 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record, however, are just 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games overall. The Raiders are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 home games and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games overall.
Wright State won both match-ups agianst IUPUI this season as the Raiders won by a 72-64 margin at home while defeating the Jaguars by a 79-74 margin on the road.
Wright State is a solid team with an impressive 14-2 record at home, however, I wouldn’t be too excited to have my quarterfinals match-up against IUPUI who certainly have the talent to give the Raiders a game. IUPUI has struggled as of late and on the road this season, however, the Jaguars had Wright State on the ropes at the Nutter Center on the road earlier this season and as I think the Jaguars offense will be able to keep this one a game, I’m taking IUPUI and the points in this one. Good Luck!
