The UIC Flames won their 2nd straight game and improved to 6-7 on the season after defeating the NAIA St. Francis (ILL) Fighting Saints, 76-55, this past Friday. UIC was outstanding on the defensive end and had little trouble securing the victory after taking a 41-24 halftime lead. UIC shot 50.9% from the field while holding St. Francis to just 38.2% from the field in the victory. The Wright State Raiders had their 2-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 6-7 on the season after being defeated by the 17th ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs, 67-63, this past Saturday night. Wright State fought back from a 35-24 halftime deficit to tie the game at 55-all with 5:57 left, however, couldn’t pull up the upset victory after Mississippi State took a 66-60 lead with just :23 seconds left in regulation. Wright State allowed Mississippi State to shoot 49.0% from the field and was outrebounded by the Bulldogs by a 34-23 margin. Leading the way for the Raiders was Billy Wampler who had 19 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, and a block.

Defensively, Wright State is allowing their opponents to average 68.3 ppg on 46.3% shooting from the field. The Raiders have a rebound margin of 2.5 and a turnover margin of 2.3.
The Flames are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games vs. Horizon League opponents. The Raiders are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a losing straight up record and 6-1 ATS in their last 7 Friday games.
UIC is 0-6 on the road this season and things won’t get better for the Flames unless they improve their defense that currently ranks 311th in scoring defense & 222nd in defensive FG%. Wright State might have a losing overall record however, they’ve played some tough opponents to stat of their season and as they have a solid defense and three-point shooting, I think the Raiders do enough at home to cover this spread. Take Wright State to cover.
