The Fresno State Bulldogs lost their 2nd straight game and dropped to 15-8 (5-5 MW) on the season after being defeated by the Nevada Wolf Pack, 102-92, this past Wednesday. Fresno State played Nevada tough throughout most of the game, however, couldn’t fight back after a 6-0 Wolf Pack run gave Nevada an 87-75 lead with 3:16 left in regulation. Fresno State shot 58.2% from the field, however, allowed Nevada to shoot 58.9% from the field and 52.2% (12-23) from beyond the arc in the loss. Leading the way for the Bulldogs was Deshon Taylor who had 30 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists, and a steal. On the season, Fresno State is averaging 78.3 ppg on 49.9% shooting from the field. Defensively, Fresno State is allowing their opponents to average 69.9 ppg on 44.4% shooting from the field. The Bulldogs have a rebound margin of 4.1 and a turnover margin of 0.8.
The Wyoming Cowboys won their 4th straight game and improved to 15-7 (6-3 MW) on the season after defeating the Colorado State Rams, 91-86 in double-OT, this past Wednesday. Wyoming was able to fight back from a 65-50 deficit with 4:48 left in regulation to force overtime and took the lead for good in the 2nd OT after a Hayden Dalton three-pointer gave the Cowboys a 83-80 lead with 3:45 left. Wyoming shot 40.6% from the field and 37.8% (14-37) from beyond the arc in the victory. Leading the way for the Cowboys was Justin James who had a double-double with 25 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, and a block. On the season, Wyoming is averaging 79.9 ppg on 43.6% shooting from the field. The Cowboys are averaging 8.6 three-pointers per game on 33.2% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Wyoming has been led by Justin James (19.1 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 2.9 apg), Hayden Dalton (17.3 ppg, 8.1 rpg, 2.6 apg), Alan Herndon (12.3 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 2.0 apg, 2.3 bpg), and Cody Kelley (5.3 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 2.8 apg). Defensively, Wyoming is allowing their opponents to average 78.3 ppg on 42.6% shooting from the field. The Cowboys have a rebound margin of -3.2 and a turnover margin of 0.8.
The Bulldogs are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games overall and just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following a ATS loss. The Cowboys are 9-4-1 ATS in their last 14 games vs. Mountain West opponents and 11-5 ATS in their last 16 home games.
Fresno State has won just won just 5 of their last 10 games, however, the Bulldogs have enough talent to compete with anyone in the Mountain West Conference and come into this matchup ranked 73rd in scoring offense and T-122nd in scoring defense. Wyoming has won 5 of their last 7 games and has been led by their offense that ranks 52nd in scoring offense, 89th in three-pointers made per game, and 53rd in FT%. Wyoming is a tough place to play, however, the Cowboys have gone into at least one overtime in each of their last three games and as I think the Bulldogs and the high scoring offense will give a tired Wyoming team some trouble, I’m taking the Bulldogs and the points in this one.
