The Line: Xavier Musketeers -6 -- Over/Under: 159
The Xavier Musketeers and Florida State Seminoles meet Sunday in the second round of the college basketball NCAA Tournament at the Bridgestone Arena.
The Xavier Musketeers look to reach the Sweet 16 after crushing past Texas Southern rather easily. The Xavier Musketeers are averaging 84.8 points on 49.3 percent shooting and allowing 74.7 points on 43.1 percent shooting. Trevon Bluiett is averaging 19.5 points and 5.7 rebounds while J.P. Macura is averaging 12.2 points and three assists. Kerem Kanter is the third double-digit scorer and Quentin Goodin is dishing 4.9 assists. The Xavier Musketeers are shooting 37.2 percent from beyond the arc and 78.5 percent from the free throw line. The Xavier Musketeers are allowing 33.3 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 38.5 rebounds per game. The Xavier Musketeers have won three of their last five neutral site games.
The Florida State Seminoles also look for a Sweet 16 appearance after dominating the Missouri Tigers. The Florida State Seminoles are averaging 81.3 points on 47.3 percent shooting and allowing 73.8 points on 41.8 percent shooting. Terance Mann is averaging 13.2 points and 2.7 assists while Phil Cofer is averaging 13.1 points and 5.1 rebounds. Braian Angola is the third double-digit scorer and CJ Walker is dishing 2.6 assists. The Florida State Seminoles are shooting 35.4 percent from beyond the arc and 68 percent from the free throw line. The Seminoles are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 non-conference games, 10-4 ATS in their last 14 Sunday games and 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games overall. The Musketeers are 20-7-1 ATS in their last 28 neutral site games, 34-16-1 ATS in their last 51 non-conference games and 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The over is 5-2-1 in Musketeers last 8 overall and the under is 19-9-1 in Seminoles last 29 neutral site games.
I'm still not sold that the Xavier Musketeers are a true No. 1 seed and think they can see an early loss in this tournament. The Florida State Seminoles are a battle tested team in the ACC that has the athetes and size to give Xavier some serious issues. FSU is coming off a game in which it smoked a higher seed in Missouri, and that was with the Noles not having a single starter score in the double digits. We know Terance Mann or Braian Angola have the ability to takeover games. This is a tricky game for Xavier, and I don't think Florida State is getting enough respect. Give me the free buckets.
