Xavier Musketeers -5 O/U: 142
The Providence Friars and the Xavier Musketeers will match up on the college basketball court Wednesday.
Providence enters this matchup at 11-7 on the season. The Friars have lost four of their last five games, with a win over Seton Hall mixed in with losses to Creighton, Villanova, Georgetown and Marquette.
In the loss to the Eagles, Providence’s Nate Watson led the team on 21 points, five rebounds and one assist. Alpha Diallo was the only other Friars player in double-figures with 16 points and six rebounds.
Over on the Xavier side, they’re currently 11-8 on the season. The Musketeers are 2-1 over their last three games, and took out Georgetown and Butler before falling to Villanova in their last appearance.
In the loss to the Wildcats, Xavier’s top scorer was Tyrique Jones, who doubled up on 21 points and 12 rebounds. Naji Marshall also had a nice line with 15 points, seven assists and six rebounds for the Musketeers.
The Friars are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 Wednesday games and 1-4 ATS in their last five overall. Providence is 1-4 ATS in the last five versus the Big East and 5-2 ATS in their last seven after an ATS loss.
Meanwhile, the Musketeers are 4-1 ATS in their last five Wednesday games and 6-13-3 ATS in the last 22 overall. The over is 4-1 in Xavier’s last five home games and 4-1 in their last five overall.
Providence’s recent record looks pretty bad, but they’ve actually been playing reasonably well and have gone up against some tough teams. The win over Seton Hall is certainly a step in the right direction.
All of that said, we’ve got to look at the matchup here. Although Xavier isn’t a top-tier team, I think they’ve got enough firepower to bang out a cover here without too much trouble.
