The Line: Xavier Musketeers -5 -- Over/Under:
The Seton Hall Pirates and Xavier Musketeers meet Wednesday in college basketball action at the Cintas Center.
The Seton Hall Pirates could use a win here after losing five of their last seven games. The Seton Hall Pirates are averaging 78.7 points on 47.1 percent shooting and allowing 72.1 points on 43.3 percent shooting. Desi Rodriguez is averaging 17.8 points and five rebounds while Myles Powell is averaging 15.1 points and 2.5 assists. Khadeen Carrington is the third double-digit scorer and Angel Delgado is grabbing 11.8 rebounds. The Seton Hall Pirates are shooting 37.3 percent from beyond the arc and 66.9 percent from the free throw line. The Seton Hall Pirates are allowing 34.3 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 35.5 rebounds per game. The Seton Hall Pirates have lost five of their last seven road games.
The Xavier Musketeers look to stay hot while building on their eight-game winning streak. The Xavier Musketeers are averaging 84.7 points on 49.8 percent shooting and allowing 74 points on 42.3 percent shooting. Trevon Bluiett is averaging 18.9 points and 5.6 rebounds while J.P. Macura is averaging 12.5 points and three assists. Kerem Kanter is the third double-digit scorer and Quentin Goodin is dishing five assists. The Xavier Musketeers are shooting 37.1 percent from beyond the arc and 77.1 percent from the free throw line. The Xavier Musketeers are allowing 33.5 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 36.3 rebounds per game. The Xavier Musketeers haven’t lost a home game since March 1 of last year.
The Pirates are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games, 2-5 ATS in their last 7 vs. Big East and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Musketeers are 11-5 ATS in their last 16 home games, 5-1 ATS in their last 6 vs. Big East and 25-9 ATS in their last 34 games overall. The Pirates are 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings in Xavier, 6-1 ATS in the last 7 meetings and the underdog is 6-1 ATS in the last 7 meetings.
The Seton Hall Pirates do have success against Xavier over the years, but they did lose to the Musketeers by nine points a few weeks ago. Xavier is also one of the better home teams in the country, which includes outscoring teams by 17.5 points thanks to shooting 50 percent from the field and allowing just 39.8 percent shooting. I'm not sure we can trust Seton Hall on the road, as the lack of defense is real and it's failed to cover four of its last five road trips. The Xavier Musketeers have been nothing but money both SU and ATS, especially at home. I have to lay the buckets.
