The LSU Tigers will play the Texas Tech Red Raiders in the Advocare V100 Texas Bowl Game.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders were 7-5 this season and finished 5th in the Big 12 standings. The Texas Tech offense is averaging 46.6 points per game with 389.7 passing yards per game and 204.8 rushing yards per game. Patrick Mahomes is the Texas Tech quarterback who is completing 65% of his passes for 4283 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions. Mahomes also has 484 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns for Texas Tech. DeAndre Washington has 1455 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns for the Red Raiders. Jakeem Grant has 1143 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns, while Devin Lauderdale has 639 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns for Texas Tech. The LSU Tigers were 8-3 this season and finished 3rd in the SEC West Division standings. Brandon Harris is the LSU quarterback who is completing 53.2% of his passes for 1904 yards, 12 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions. Leonard Fournette has 1741 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns for LSU. The LSU defense is giving up 24 points per game with 211 passing yards per game and 131.5 rushing yards per game. Deion Jones has 92 tackles, Lewis Neal has 8 sacks, and Jamal Adams has 4 interceptions for LSU. LSU is +7 in turnover margin this season.

LSU had a good season but had a lot of distractions, including a rumor that their coach would be fired. LSU lost three games in a row during the season, but was able to end the year on a win against Texas A&M. The LSU really struggled throwing the ball, but was the 9th best rushing attack in the country thanks to Leonard Fournette. In all of the LSU wins, their defense held their opponent to under 30 points, so it will be crucial for the LSU defense to play well in this game. Texas Tech has the second best scoring offense and second best passing attack in the nation. There is no doubt that Texas Tech can score, but their defense is one of the worst in the country. Texas Tech gets a good matchup in this game because LSU doesn’t throw the ball very well, but they will have to stop the run to prevent another shootout. I am picking LSU in this game because they have the better defense.
