The Line: Air Force Falcons +4 -- Over/Under: 52.5
The Air Force Falcons visit Qualcomm Stadium to challenge the San Diego State Aztecs for the MWC crown.
The Air Force Falcons had been red hot with five consecutive victories before they suffered a 47-35 loss at New Mexico. The Lobos jumped to a 31-17 lead at the half and traded scores the rest of the way on the way to a 512-389 edge in real estate. Quarterback Karson Roberts has had some big games in the air for Air Force but struggled on a 6-16 effort for 167 yards and three touchdowns but also three interceptions. Timothy McVey was the AFA receiving corps with five receptions for 157 yards and three scores while also leading the run game with 105 yards and two TD’s on 12 totes. Roberts added 62 yards on 14 totes but the rushing attack was not explosive.
The San Diego State Aztecs began the year slow but finished with eight consecutive victories following a 31-14 win versus visiting Nevada as a 17 point favorite. The Aztecs have been getting outstanding performances on both sides of the ball and that trend continued with a 408-263 yardage edge with three forced turnovers. Quarterbacks Maxwell Smith and Christian Chapman combined to go 9-12 for 88 yards with Rashaad Penny leading SDSU with two receptions for 28 yards. The Aztecs were dominant on the ground behind Donnel Pumphrey and his 154 yard, two touchdown effort on 23 carries with Chase Price rambling for 112 yards and a TD on 19 touches.
The Falcons are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after accumulating less than 170 yards passing in their previous game and the under is 5-0 in Falcons last 5 games after allowing more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game while the over is 6-0 in Falcons last 6 conference games. The Aztecs are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 home games and are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games on grass while going 5-0-1 ATS in their last 6 games after accumulating less than 170 yards passing in their previous game. The under is 6-0 in the last 6 meetings in San Diego State and the Falcons are 0-6 ATS in their last 6 meetings while the under is 6-1 in the last 7 meetings. I think that getting in front of the Aztecs train is a bad idea…
