Week two college football features the Morgan State Bears visiting the Akron Zips.
The Morgan State Bears had issues on both sides of the line of scrimmage in a 36-10 defeat to visiting Towson State in the season opener for both squads. Morgan State struggled to stop the Tigers through the air and had no consistency in their own passing and rushing attacks.
Bears quarterback Deandre Harris completed 12-21 for 101 yard and an interception and couldn’t get anything going downfield.
Jack McCracken led Morgan State with three receptions for 43 yard while Harris and Joshua Chase combined for 59 rushing yards on 25 carries.
The Akron Zips kick off their 2018 schedule with Morgan State after storms canceled their opener at Nebraska. Akron won the MAC East crown in 2017 behind Kato Nelson who took over under center when Thomas Woodson was suspended.
The Zips have experience in the backfield with Van Edwards with Oregon State transfer Deltron Sands providing depth.
The Akron receiving corps will look to Mykel Traylor-Bennett looking like the go to receiver while the offensive line is in need of some bodies and depth.
Morgan State are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up loss of more than 20 points and are 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games following a straight up loss and are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a double-digit loss at home. Under is 8-0 in Akron last 8 vs. a team with a losing record and under is 5-0 in Akron last 5 non-conference games and under is 5-0 in Akron last 5 games in September.
While I generally believe the points and the FCS teams are hard to pass up I think the Zips have enough of an edge to lay the points…
