The Northern Illinois Huskies visit the Akron Zips in a Thursday MAC college football tilt.
The Northern Illinois Huskies stayed unbeaten in the MAC with a 7-6 victory at Brigham Young on Saturday. Northern Illinois was outgained 301-204 and committed ten penalties with only 25+ minutes of possession.
Huskies quarterback Marcus Childers completed 10-21 for 115 yards and ran 13 times for 19 yards and scored the only touchdown of the game n the third quarter.
Tre Harbison gave Northern Illinois a contest high 54 yards on eleven carries while Jauan Wesley was the top receiver with 70 yards on four receptions.
The Akron Zips stayed on track for a Bowl with consecutive victories following a 17-10 win against Central Michigan as a five point home favorite. Both teams finished with around 300 yards but Akron couldn’t hold on to the ball with four lost fumbles.
Zips quarterback Kato Nelson connected on 10-27 with 149 yards and a touchdown while rushing ten times for 23 yards.
Van Edwards Jr. gave Akron a threat on the ground with 96 yards on 20 carries including a 20 yard scoring run while Nate Stewart caught two balls for 62 yards and Andre Williams totaled five receptions for 50 yards.
