The Bowling Green Falcons can take firm control of the MAC East with a road win at the Akron Zips.
The Akron Zips hope to regain some scoring touch when Bowling Green pays a visit in week ten. The Zips have struggled on the scoreboard throughout 2014 and that trend continued in a 35-21 defeat at Ball State with the defense also having issues that saddled Akron with back to back losses and has thei postseason hopes hanging by a thread. Akron led this one 21-6 at one point before the Cardinals before getting outscored 29-0 the rest of the way. The Zips were done in by 325 yards and five turnovers with Conor Hundley with 72 rushing yards and a pair of scores.Tommy Woodson and the passing game was where ths struggles arose with a 21-39 effort for 200 yards with a ten yard touchdown to Anthony Riitossa but also four interceptions that effesctively ended the Zips chances.
The Bowling Green Falcons look to get back in the win column when the Akron Zips pay a visit in week eleven. The Falcons are in need of a win as they went in to their bye week on a 26-14 loss to visiting Western Michigan that ended a three game winning streak and put a damper on their conference title drive. The Falcons led 14-13 at the break but were shutout 13-0 over the final 30 minutes. The Broncos led the yardage battle 361-274 and struggled to move the chains in the air and on the groundwith a pair of turnovers killing them. Travis Green ran for 46 yards and James Knapke added 41 yards while completing 20-33 for 139 yards with an interception Most gains were of the short variety and the Falcons needed more explosion offensively but with just 14 first downs the chains weren't moving.
The under is 7-0 in Falcons last 7 games following a double-digit loss at home and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a double-digit loss at home while going 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games after allowing less than 170 yards passing in their previous game. For Akron the Zips are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games on fieldturf and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall while going 1-6 ATS in their last 7 home games vs. a team with a winning road record. Head to head the favorite is 5-0 ATS in their last 5 meetings while the Falcons are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 meetings in Akron while the Falcons are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 meetings. I'm honestly disappointed in what I have seen from Akron and their season is on the line here so I'll back them but check back Tuesday for an update...
