The Line: Appalachian State Mountaineers -11.5 -- Over/Under:
The Arkansas State Red Wolves travel to Kidd Brewer Stadium to oppose the Appalachian State Mountaineers.
The Arkansas State Red Wolves might be flying a bit under the radar lately and that is dangerous for opponents. The Red Wolves have won four in a row following a 48-34 win against Georgia State as a 17 point home favorite. This wasn’t easy as ASU used a 21-0 4th quarter to erase a seven point deficit. Both teams finished with close to 500 yards with a balanced Red Wolves offense overcoming 390 yards of passing by the Panthers. Quarterback Fredi Knighten had an up and down effort in the air with 234 yards with three touchdowns and a pair of interceptions on 21-29 wile JD McKissic led ASU with seven catches for 82 yards. Warren Hand led the Red Wolves rushing attack with 119 yards on eleven tries and a TD.
The Appalachian State Mountaineers might be the best the Sun Belt has to offer but they have a lot to prove after squeezing by Troy 44-41 in overtime as 24 point favorites. The Trojans have been a struggling team but outgained the Mountaineers 450-432 behind their passing while ASU was balanced. Quarterback Taylor Lamb gave the Mountaineers 184 passing yards with two touchdowns and an interception on 16-26 while running for a pair of scores. Bobo Beathard and Malachi Jones paced the receiving corps with six catches for 117 yards while Marcus Cox ran for 140 yards on 30 touches with Terrence Upshaw chipped in with 57 yards.
The over is 4-0 in Red Wolves last 4 games after accumulating more than 450 total yards in their previous game and is 8-1 in Red Wolves last 9 games following a S.U. win while going 7-1 in Red Wolves last 8 games after allowing more than 450 total yards in their previous game. The under is 4-0 in Mountaineers last 4 vs. a team with a winning record and is 4-0 in Mountaineers last 4 games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous game while theMountaineers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a ATS loss. I favor the Mountaineers who should have something to prove after an awful performance…
