The Line: Arizona State Sun Devils -2.5 -- Over/Under: 59.5
The Arizona State Sun Devils and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish face off on Saturday in Tempe in a college football battle of one-loss teams.
The Arizona State Sun Devils needed overtime to beat Utah on Saturday but by doing so they remain alive in their hopes of reaching the Pac-12 Championship Game. ASU has won their last four games in a row all against teams with winning records. The Arizona State offense is averaging 34.4 points and 483.6 yards per game and are once again led by QB Taylor Kelly who has completed 59.2 percent of his passes with nine touchdowns and two interceptions and he looks to be fully recovered from his injury earlier this season. D.J. Foster is the Sun Devils leading rusher with 701 yards and six touchdowns and Jaleen Strong is ASU’s leading receiver with 57 catches and eight touchdowns. Defensively Arizona State is allowing 24.1 points and 385.2 yards per game with 11 turnovers and 20 sacks. Jordan Simone and Damarious Randall each have 73 tackles and Lalu Moeakiola has 7.5 tackles for a loss. Arizona State looked horrible in their lone loss against UCLA but they appear to have rebounded strong.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are hoping that if they can win out they can get into the College Football Playoff but there are plenty of hurdles fro them to scale before that happens. ND lost a close one in Tallahassee against Florida State and should be on the bubble heading into this game. The Notre Dame offense is averaging 35.4 points and 458.2 yards per game and they are led by QB Everett Golson who has completed 62.8 percent of his passes with 22 touchdowns and seven interceptions and he has rushed for 272 yards and seven touchdowns. Tarean Folston leads the Notre Dame rushing attack with 532 yards and three touchdowns and Will Fuller is the Irish’s leading receiver with 46 catches and nine touchdowns. The Notre Dame defense allows 21.6 points and 359.1 yards per game with 12 interceptions. The Fighting Irish defense will be without leading tackler Joe Schmidt who is out for the season and that leaves Jaylon Smith who has 59 tackles and Romeo Okwara who leads ND with 3.5 sacks. Every game is a playoff game at this point for Notre Dame.
Arizona State is 1-4 against the spread in their last five home games, 1-4 against the spread in their last five non-conference games, and 7-1 against the spread after scoring less than 20 points in their previous game. Notre Dame is 6-0 against the spread against a team with a winning record, 5-0 against the spread against the Pac-12, and 5-2 against the spread following a win.
The total is set at 59.5 and while it is just a lean I like the over here. My stronger play is on who will cover the spread and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
