The Arizona State Sun Devils lost their 2nd straight game and dropped to 2-2 (0-1 Pac-12) on the season after being defeated by the 10th ranked Washington Huskies, 27-20, this past Saturday. Arizona State gave Washington all they could handle, however, struggled offensively agianst the tough Washington defense and couldn’t fight all the way back after falling behind by a 27-13 margin with 10:59 left in regulation. Arizona State was outgained by Washington by a 373-268 margin and had only 16 first downs in the loss. Defensively, Arizona State is holding their opponents to an average of 18.8 ppg on 352.5 total yards per game (215.8 passing yds/g; 136.8 rushing yds/g).
The Beavers are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games overall and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games. The Sun Devils are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up loss and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games.
Oregon State’s offense has shown that it’s capable to put up some points, however, it’s going to be a long season for the Beavers as their defense currently ranks 127th in the country when it comes to scoring. Arizona State has lost their last two games, however, even in the losses, Herm Edwards has to be happy that there were very competitive agianst two solid teams in San Diego State and Washington. Arizona State is always a better team when they are at Sun Devil Stadium and as I think their defense will limit the Beavers offense, I expect Manny Wilkins and company to have a good enough day on the offensive end to cover this spread. Take Arizona State to cover.
