The Line: Arizona State Sun Devils +4.5 -- Over/Under: 54.5
The Arizona State Sun Devils and the Stanford Cardinal face off on Saturday at Sun Devil Stadium in a Pac-12 college football matchup.
The Arizona State Sun Devils had the week off after pulling off a miracle win against USC as ASU has just one loss for the season. The Arizona State offense is averaging 41.2 points and 556.8 yards per game and while QB Taylor Kelly has been banged up Mike Bercovici has completed 60 percent of his passes with nine touchdowns and two interceptions. D.J. Foster leads the ASU ground attack with a 7.6 yards per carry average and five touchdowns and Jaleen Strong leads the team with 41 receptions and five touchdowns. Defensively Arizona State allows 31.4 points and 452.6 yards per game with two interceptions, four fumble recoveries, and 10 sacks. Damarious Randle has 51 tackles, Jordan Simone has 45 tackles, and Salamo Fiso has 30 tackles. In Arizona State’s loss to UCLA it was poor tackling that was their undoing.
The Stanford Cardinal have already lost twice this season but they are hoping that if they can win out they still have an outside chance of making the playoffs. Stanford’s offense is averaging 26.3 points and 389.3 yards per game led by QB Kevin Hogan who has completed 65.5 percent of his passes with 11 touchdowns and four interceptions. Remound Wright leads the Cardinal rushing attack averaging 5.5 yards per carry and Ty Montgomery is one of the top receivers in the nation with 37 receptions and three touchdowns. Defensively Stanford allows 10 points and 238 yards per game with five interceptions, three fumble recoveries, and 17 sacks. Blake Martinez has 46 tackles, A.J. Tarpley has 41 tackles, and Jordan Richards has 35 tackles. Stanford has fallen short of expectations this season.
Arizona State is 4-1 against the spread following a bye week, 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games, and 1-4 against the spread in their last five home games. Stanford is 20-8-1 in their last 29 road games, 35-17-1 in their last 53 games, and 1-4 against the spread against a team with a winning record. The favorite is 5-1-1 against the spread in the last seven meetings of these two.
The total is set at 54.5 and I can see this one going over and that is my free pick. My stronger pick is on who will cover the spread and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
