The Line: Arizona Wildcats -16.5 -- Over/Under: 65.5
The Arizona Wildcats and the Nevada Wolfpack face off on Saturday in Arizona for a week 3 college football matchup.
The Arizona Wildcats have started the season 2-0 and while their play hasn’t been perfect, their record is and in the end that is all that counts. Anu Solomon has yet to throw an interception and he has five touchdown passes but a completion percentage just above 55 percent. Freshman running back Nick Wilson has looked good rushing for 278 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Zona ground attack. It’s no surprise that Samajie Grant leads the Wildcats in receptions with 10 while Cayleb Jones has seven grabs with a touchdown. The Arizona defense has two interceptions and four sacks but they have yet to recover a fumble. Jared Tevis has 21 tackles and an interception and Scooby Wright has 19 tackles and two sacks to lead the Wildcat defense. Rich Rodriguez’s team still has plenty to prove as they enter week three in a game that is far from a layup.
The Nevada Wolfpack face a Pac-12 team for the second week in a row after beating Washington State last week. QB Cody Fajardo runs Nevada’s Pistol offense completing nearly 68 percent of his passes with a TD and an interception while rushing for168 yards. Don Jackson leads the ground attack averaging 4.1 yards per carry and he has three touchdowns and Jerico Richardson is Nevada’s leading receiver with 13 catches and Richy Turner has 11 catches. The Nevada defense has taken advantage of opponent mistakes with three interceptions, a fumble recovery, and seven sacks. Senior linebacker Jonathan McNeil leads the defense with 17 tackles, Matthew Lyons has 15 tackles, and Ian Seau has two sacks. Nevada is flying under the radar but as always they are dangerous for any opponent.
Arizona is 3-8 against the spread against a team with a winning record, 0-4 following a win, and 1-5 against the spread in September. Nevada is 4-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record, 4-12-1 against the spread following a win, and 1-4 against the spread following a game that they covered the point spread.
The total is set at 63.5 and I look for it to be even higher scoring than that so my free pick is the over. My stronger play is on who will cover the spread and I will post that in the Premium Area and on the app.
