The Line: Arkansas Razorbacks +10 -- Over/Under: 55.5
The Arkansas Razorbacks and the Alabama Crimson Tide face off on Saturday in Fayetteville in SEC college football action.
The Arkansas Razorbacks had last week off after losing in overtime to Texas A&M. The loss to the Aggies was Arkansas’ second SEC loss this season after opening the year with a loss to Auburn. Despite the two losses Arkansas is improved over last season averaging 44.6 points per game and led by QB Brandon Allen who has completed nearly 60 percent of his passes with nine touchdowns and an interception. Alex Collins is having a monster year for the Hogs averaging 7.2 yards per carry with six touchdowns and Jonathan Williams averages 7.4 yards per carry with eight touchdowns. None of the Razorbacks receivers have big numbers as Keon Hatcher leads the group with 13 receptions and A.J. Derby has eight receptions. The Arkansas defense has let them down in their losses allowing 25.8 points per game with four interceptions, three fumble recoveries, and eight sacks. Martrell Spaight has 43 tackles, Brooks Ellis has 31 tackles, and Trey Flowers has 26 tackles. This week would be a landmark win for Arkansas.
The Alabama Crimson Tide entered last weeks’ game against Ole Miss as the number one ranked team in the nation and the left it with their first loss of the season. With it still being early in the season and with most teams still facing some pretty stiff tests Alabama should be able to play their way back into the playoff hunt but they can’t afford another loss. QB Blkae Sims has completed 70.3 percent of his passes with eight touchdowns and three interceptions and he has rushed for 149 yards and three touchdowns. T.J. Yeldon leads the Tide’s rushing attack with a 5.3 yards per carry average and Derrick Henry is averaging 5.1 yards per carry. Amari Cooper is one of the top receivers I the nation with 52 receptions and fie touchdowns with seven regular season games left to play. The Alabama defense is rock solid allowing 15.8 points per game with two interceptions, nine sacks, and three fumble recoveries. Landon Collins has 38 tackles, Reggie Ragland has 28 tackles, and Trey Depriest has 23 tackles. The Alabama defense has played well but they haven’t created the big opportunities for the offense.
Arkansas is 4-0 against the spread in their last four games, 5-0 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 0-4 against the spread following a bye week. Alabama is 1-3-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record, 1-7-1 against the spread in their last nine games, and 1-4 against the spread in their last five road games. The home team has covered the point spread in four of the last five meetings of these two.
The total is set at 55.5 and I like the under here with my free pick. My stronger pick is on who will cover the spread and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
