The Line: Mississippi State Bulldogs +2.5 -- Over/Under: 53
The Auburn Tigers go on the road to Davis Wade Stadium to take the field with the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
The Auburn Tigers were not given very many accolades in 2016 so many are surprised by their 3-2 record. It appears the Tigers might have a bit more bite then thought and certainly had too much bite for overmatched Louisiana-Monroe in a 58-7 romp. Auburn forced two turnovers and held the Warhawks to 251 yards while racking up 688 yards of their own. Auburn quarterback Sean White went an efficient 14-17 for 239 yards and a pair of touchdowns with John Franklin III going 1-1 with a 39 yard score. Tony Stevens paced Auburn in receiving with four catches for 109 yards and a TD while Kerryon Johnson rushing for 146 yards and two more TD’s while Franklin III added 82 yards and a touchdown.
The Mississippi State Bulldogs might be in a bit of a rebuilding phase but it’s tough to say where they stand at this point. The Bulldogs come out of their bye coming off of a 47-35 victory at Massachusetts as a 23 point favorite. The Bulldogs outgained the Minutemen 598-411 and logged three interceptions including a pic six. Mississippi State quarterback Nick Fitzgerald had a monster day, connecting on 25-38 for 299 yards and three touchdowns while leading the team on the ground with 110 yards. MSU saw Brandon Crawford and Ashton Shumpert combine for 148 rushing yards while Fred Ross hauled in eight passes for 126 yards and a pair of TD’s.
Auburn are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games after accumulating more than 450 total yards in their previous game and the under is 4-0 in Auburn’s last 4 games after accumulating more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game while going 3-0-1 in Auburn’s last 4 games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous game. Mississippi State are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games after accumulating more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game and Mississippi State are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a ATS loss while the under is 6-1 in Mississippi State’s last 7 games on grass. The under is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings and is 5-0 in the last 5 meetings in Mississippi State while Auburn are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 meetings.
I think Mississippi State is in something of a rebuilding mode and Auburn is better then most thought coming in to 2016 and when you put the two together you have to look at the Tigers…
