The Line: Ball State Cardinals +20.5 -- Over/Under:
The Bowling Green Falcons pay a visit to the rival Ball State Cardinals in week 13.
The Bowling Green Falcons look to end the season with a victory along with the MAC East crown. The Falcons lost to Toledo 44-28 in week 12 as their potent offense stalled and a seven game winning streak went out the window. The Rockets won the yardage battle 406-368 but the deciding factor was five BGSU turnovers. Quarterback Matt Johnson threw for 274 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions on 24-46 with top target Gehrig Dieter hauling in 13 receptions for 103 yards and three scores. Travis Greene was the Falcons only runner of note with 73 yards on 17 carries but Toledo took full advantage of all mistakes.
I thought the Ball State Cardinals would give the rest of the MAC some trouble and go to the postseason but losses in seven of eight heading in to the final game of the year tells a different story. The Cardinals have not been strong enough on either side of the ball and it was the defense that struggled in week 12 in a 48-31 defeat at Ohio. The Bobcats led 28-10 at the half on the way to a 607-421 yardage edge with Ball State limited to less then 23 minutes of possession. Quarterback Riley Neak gave the Cardinals a solid passing attack with 247 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 16-36. KeVonn Mabon caught ten balls for 139 yards and a score while Darian Green and Neal gave Ball State 136 rushing yards and a TD each.
The under is 4-0 in Falcons last 4 road games and the over is 4-0 in Falcons last 4 games following a ATS loss while the Falcons are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games after accumulating less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game. The Cardinals are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games after allowing more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game and the under is 4-0 in Cardinals last 4 home games while going 6-1 in Cardinals last 7 games after allowing more than 450 total yards in their previous game. The Falcons are a really good team and need this so I don’t see them messing around…
